
So many of you may not have heard of Istres. Let alone be planning a trip, but being only
a 40 minute drive from Marseille it is well worth a visit, it's one of those hidden in plain sight gems!

1 Day in Istres
Morning:
A local cafe
- Start the day with a coffee and croissant or pain au chocolat, head towards Old Town and stop in at Le Petit Cafe great little cafe to begin.
Etang de l'Olivier
- Take a stroll around Etang de l'Olivier - Plenty of opportunities for photo's whilst walking around this scenic lake.
- Relax and enjoy the views
- Take in some of the other villages on route as you loop back to Istres

Midday
Explore Old Town
- With it's narrow streets, quaint shops and colourful facades this is a walk that will have you stopping for photos.
- Follow the markers through the narrow streets as you wind your way up to Notre-Dame de Beauvoir, a historic church which sits elevated in the centre of Old Town.
Afternoon
Parc Dinosaur'Istres
- Jurassic Park in Provence - a great with 34 life-sized dinosaur models. Fun to walk around with or without the kids! A light winding walk, with some great views over the lake.
Visit Art Centre or Local Galleries
- Just down from the dinosaurs is an Art Zoo with animals painted in bright colours.
- Head to Centre d'Art Contemporain or Maison Familiale de l'Artisant to see what the latest exhibition is.


Evening
La Romaniquette Beach
- Relax and unwind on the shoreline of Etang de Berre a family friendly beach . Sit and enjoy the sunset or grab a drink from the local Beach bar.
Dinner
- There are some good restaurants to choose from, so this will come down to personal preference.
- French Cusine at Le Pilon
- Italian at Puccini
- Chinese at Le Bao
- Seafood at Le Pointu
- Asian at Viet-Thai
