Bressanone - Italy

Bressanone - This was an absolute hidden alpine gem, I had never heard of Bressanone before.

It is a charming town in Northern Italy in the province of South Tyrol, surrounded by the Dolomite Mountains. If your looking for an out of the way Italian experience definitely give Bressanone a go.

I arrived in Milan and caught the train to Bressanone, prices and travel time differ depending on the time of day you go, for me it was a 4 hour trip at a cost of about £45. There is a bus that does the same route or car hire from any of the airports and Milan.

Also know as Brixen - Bressanone is one of Italy's oldest towns and offers travels a perfect blend of culture, history and outdoor adventures.

As a work trip I was only in the town for two days.

Arriving at the station I walked towards the town to find my hotel.  Heading through Bressanone’s Old Town was amazing, for those who love architecture and history. You can wander through cobblestone streets lined with colorful buildings, boutique shops, and cozy cafés.

A must-visit highlight is the stunning Bressanone Cathedral, an impressive baroque masterpiece dating back over 1,000 years

The scenic Plose Mountain rises above the town, offering year-round fun for those looking for adventures, Bressanone is your gateway to unforgettable alpine experiences.

Whether you're an adrenaline seeker or a casual explorer, the landscapes around Bressanone will take your breath away. Views of the town and Dolomites from the Panoramic Cable-car with family friendly trails.

Whether its skiing or snowboarding in Winter or hiking and mountain biking in the Summer Bressanone is the place to be.

The food on offer in the town is incredible, Italian and Austrian cuisines paired with a wine from the South Tyrol region definitely hits the spot. I went to restaurant Der Traubenwirt which was incredible, from the friendly staff the relaxed atmosphere and superb food it was one of the best places I've eaten at.

Bressanone was one of those places I didn't expect much from but it offered so much more.

If you get the chance o visit it is well worth a trip, so much to see on route and the views when you arrive are stunning.
