Once again, this trip was straight off the back of a Saudi return.
Just for context, I arrived home Thursday morning, went for a birthday outing to celebrate her turning...?? Ha as if I would put that in print! We then drove to her sisters on the Saturday as she was getting christened. Home on Sunday, flying to Denmark on Monday.

So anyway, here I am in Copenhagen Denmark, for the first part of the trip. Landed around lunchtime, with no idea what to expect, the airport was busy, but well sign posted. Bags in hand I headed towards the train area, buses and taxis are also available to take you to the city centre, I had other plans, I was heading out to Odense. Oh, the passport security guy (ones who stamp the passports) was really helpful in suggesting places to visit whilst in Odense, thought I’d mention that as it doesn’t happen very often, the Danish are now top of my friendly passport control list :D

The ticket machine for the train was simple enough to use, all touch screen and language options available. Selecting my journey, I thought I was ready but didn’t understand anything printed on the ticket! The DSB agent (train company) was helpful in pointing out which platform I should head for, so luggage in hand I went to wait. It didn’t take long it’s quite a regular service with prices ranging from 330 Danish Korona (DK) to 550 DK.

I paid the higher price so I could sit and setup the laptop for the 1hr30min journey. The train compartments were comfy and having paid the higher price there was also free refreshments available, tea, coffee, biscuits which was a nice touch. The journey didn’t seem to take that long as I was preoccupied with working or staring out the window….so much so that I almost missed my stop as it was all announced in Danish! Keep an eye on the station signs or use the maps on your phone to see where you are.

It was raining when I arrived so grabbed my stuff, headed for the exit and walked to the hotel. It was about a 2-minute walk from the station so not to bad.
Staying at the CABINN Hotel it’s a budget chain located across Denmark. It was so much better than expected. Staff were really friendly and helpful, spoke English which is great as my Danish is non-existent! The room was comfy small, but it does what’s required I had a double bed which had a bunk above it, a tv, desk, bathroom and the all-important kettle…..never trust a hotel room that doesn’t have a kettle!
Breakfast was plentiful, a morning buffet to keep you going, with cereals, breads, meats, pastries, scrambled eggs and meatballs. Tea’s, coffee and juices.
As I'm here for a couple of days, I only really get the evenings to look around.
Odense has some charming little shops spread across the city and being the third largest in Denmark there is a vast amount of things to do.
The most popular attraction is Odense Zoo which is one of the top rated in Europe, with around 147 different species and special experiences on offer, it's a great day out for all the family...taking mine next time!
The Hans Christian Anderson Museum is also a great stop.
A new immersive museum which walks you though the life of Hans Christian Anderson and brings to life his fairy tales, with interactive exhibits and some original manuscripts.
It's a wonderful 2 hour journey.

Walking the streets of Odense, takes you through time from the modern area with it's bars and restaurants to the Old Town with it's cobble streets and colourful half-timbered houses.
With a Theatre, Museums and Galleries to explore Odense offers a fun filled adventure for the family
